Barcelona puts Alejandro Balde up for transfer to save budget – Manchester United and Manchester City lead the race
Barcelona has made a tough decision that could shake up the European market in the upcoming transfer window.
Details: According to Mundo Deportivo, the club is officially open to offers for their main left-back, Alejandro Balde. Although the 22-year-old Spaniard was recently considered an “untouchable” asset and the future of the Blaugrana defense, the club’s critical financial situation is forcing the management to consider selling its top talents to boost the coffers.
The main contenders for the Spain international are Manchester United and Manchester City. The Red Devils are searching for a long-term replacement for the injury-prone Luke Shaw, while Pep Guardiola sees Balde as the perfect wing-back profile—capable of covering the entire flank and integrating seamlessly into his complex tactical system.
In addition to the Manchester giants, Aston Villa have surprisingly entered the race. Under Unai Emery, the Birmingham club continues its ambitious project to strengthen the squad ahead of next season’s Champions League campaign.
Notably, the Spanish winger has made 34 appearances and provided 3 assists this season. Transfermarkt values the player at €55 million.
Reminder: Barcelona winger Raphinha has been sidelined for a significant period of time.
