In the previous La Liga round, Real Madrid drew 2–2 with Elche, but according to Barcelona’s president, the champions should have lost.

Details: Joan Laporta stated that Real were awarded two goals against Elche that should not have stood. Without those goals, he insists, Barcelona would now be leading the league, as Madrid would have suffered defeat.

Quote: “In Elche, Real Madrid scored two goals that clearly shouldn’t count. Bellingham handles the ball on the first one… and on the other, Vinícius breaks Iñaki’s nose. Without those two goals, Barça would be top of the league,” Laporta said.

Real Madrid currently sit first in the table with 32 points after 13 rounds. Barcelona are second, just one point behind their rivals.

Reminder: Joan Laporta also recently stated that Real Madrid suffer from a “persecution complex” regarding Barcelona’s greatest era.
