Heartbreaking news for Barcelona fans and football lovers worldwide has emerged from the Netherlands today.

Details: The official website of the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) has announced the passing of Johan Neeskens, the legendary figure of Barcelona, Ajax, and the Dutch national team. He was 73 years old, though the cause of death has not been disclosed.

Neeskens is regarded as one of the greatest midfielders in football history, gaining particular fame for his partnership on the field with the iconic Johan Cruyff.

During his time at Ajax, Neeskens won the European Cup three times, and with Barcelona, he claimed the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. He also twice finished as a World Cup runner-up with the Netherlands.

After his playing career, Neeskens worked on the coaching staff under Frank Rijkaard at Barcelona and Galatasaray, and he also assisted Guus Hiddink with the Australian national team. As a head coach, Neeskens led NEC Nijmegen and South African club Mamelodi Sundowns.
