Banner scandal escalates to a legal battle! Nottingham Forest owner declares war on Crystal Palace

The conflict between the Nottingham Forest owner and the London club has reached a new legal dimension.

Details: Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has filed a lawsuit for protection of honor and dignity against Crystal Palace in London’s High Court. The document lists CPFC Limited, the company managing the London club, as one of two defendants.

The trigger for the court action was a scandalous banner displayed by Crystal Palace fans at Selhurst Park during a Premier League match last August, which ended in a 1-1 draw. The banner depicted the Greek executive holding a gun to the head of midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, alongside the caption^

“Mr. Marinakis is not involved in blackmail, match-fixing, drug trafficking or corruption.”

The businessman, who also owns Greek giants Olympiacos, has consistently and categorically denied any such accusations and is determined to defend his reputation through legal means.

It’s worth noting that 26-year-old attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has been playing for Nottingham Forest since August 2022. According to Transfermarkt, the player’s market value is €70 million.
