Lyle Foster has found a supporter in Itumeleng Khune.

Foster’s goal for Bafana Bafana against Zimbabwe on Monday at the Africa Cup of Nations was what impressed Bafana legend Khune.

The Burnley striker has been under heavy criticism for the national side with many calling him an unreliable marksman.

But against Zimbabwe, the former Orlando Pirates striker scored his second goal of his Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco at Stade de Marrakesh.

“We rely on him as number nine, he showed his bravery with his second goal when he went one on one with the goalkeeper,” said Khune on SABC.

“The referees always protect the goalkeepers inside the box, but he won the ball, and it went to the back of the net.

“It’s something we want to see when the strikers are inside the box. They must show hunger and the will to score.

“He did show that he plays in the European league where they are very physical. He was even bleeding, and he took one for the team.”
