Aubrey Modiba shared Hugo Broos’ sentiments that Bafana Bafana defence has been at its best in the Africa Cup of Nations currently underway in Morocco.

Modiba plays left-back for Bafana and scored an own goal against Zimbabwe on Monday said that they conceded in every match is something of a concern.

In all their three Group B games, Bafana conceded four goals as Zimbabwe scored two, Angola one and Egypt scored one as well.

Given that they have been playing together for a log time, such a number of goals scored against was not expected from Bafana.

It has been Khuliso Mudau, Siyabonga Ngezana, Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Modiba as Bafana’s rear-guard. But they have not been as solid.

As they made it into the last-16, Modiba stressed they need to up their game going into the next round.

“It was very important for us to qualify for the round of sixteen, but I think we made it tough for ourselves against Zimbabwe - taking nothing away from their performance," the Mamelodi Sundowns defender said.

“We have conceded in every game we played so far, so we just need to make sure that we concede less and score more goals, because we haven't scored too many goals either. Hopefully we can rectify a few things to make sure that we go all the way."
