Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos on midfielder Jayden Adams returning to form: I think he saw that his career may go down and he quickly turned around
Jayden Adams is a re-born man.
This is the view of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos who said Adams had lost himself when he joined Betway Premiership side Mamelodi Sundowns from Stellenbosch FC.
Broos is a known admirer of Adams as he called him to the national side since his days at Stellies but then dropped the player as his form dipped.
But now Adams is back in the reckoning for Miguel Cardoso’s Sundowns and one man who is pleased by that is Broos, who also called him for the Bafana side to face Panama twice this week.
The first game will be this Friday in Durban and match will be played in Cape Town next Tuesday.
"Jayden is the same story as Rele and Mbokazi. When you are so young and suddenly you become a good player, and there is so much interest in you, it is difficult to manage that. Jayden, in a certain moment, lost himself,” Broos told journalists earlier this week.
"The moment he went to Sundowns, he thought 'Things are done', he was not playing. He was on the bench, and he was even on the stands. He did what he did with the national team, and I was not happy with that. But I think he learnt a lot, and he is mature, and the qualities are still there. I think the maturity is something he got in the last year.
"I think he looked in the mirror and said, 'Jayden, if you go on like this, your career is finished. You will go to Marumo Gallants or something'. I am very happy with him. Everybody knows he is a good player. I think he can help us a lot. The most important thing for the players is guidance. They need someone next to them who looks at their interests."
