The celebration of a triumphant season for Johannes Klæbo was abruptly interrupted by a frightening incident. The 11-time Olympic champion, who had just rewritten history at the 2026 Games, was hospitalized following a hard collision in the semifinals of the classic sprint at the World Cup stage in Drammen.
Details: According to Norwegian broadcaster NRK, citing national team coach Arild Monsen, the decorated skier was unable to finish the competition on his own and was immediately sent for medical examination.
The reason for the hospitalization was a collision with American Ben Ogden on a narrow section of the course. As a result of the fall, Klæbo suffered a severe blow to the head. The athlete's condition immediately raised serious concerns among the stadium's medical staff: coach Monsen reported that Johannes appeared dazed and disoriented.
Doctors are currently conducting a series of tests to rule out a serious concussion or any other hidden injuries that can result from such a powerful impact.
For the record: Mondo Duplantis set a new world record.
