On Wednesday, July 15, England and Argentina faced off in the semi-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The first half was fiercely contested but ended goalless. After the break, however, the match burst into life.
England struck first, but immediately after taking the lead they dropped deeper in an attempt to protect their advantage. Argentina created several chances, and they eventually turned them into goals. Enzo Fernández levelled the score before Lautaro Martínez put his side ahead just a few minutes later.
England pushed for an equaliser but were unable to find one. The match ended 2-1 in Argentina's favour, sending them into the FIFA World Cup final for the second consecutive tournament.
On Sunday, July 19, Argentina will face Spain in the World Cup final. Kick-off is scheduled for 21:00 CET.
