Atlético Madrid continues its efforts to retain club legends for the upcoming season.

As reported by insider Relevo Matteo Moretto, the Madrid club is set to sign a new agreement with their captain, Koke, whose contract expires in June. The club and the player have already held initial negotiations and are very close to reaching an agreement.

The 32-year-old Koke has spent his entire career with his hometown club. In total, he has played 622 matches for Atlético, scoring 47 goals and providing 115 assists. In the current season, he has participated in 36 matches and contributed with 4 assists.

Koke holds the record for the most appearances for Atlético.

Earlier, it was revealed that Atlético activated the automatic contract extension option for Stefan Savic and Cesar Azpilicueta.
