American sprinter Fred Kerley has been detained in Miami following an altercation with police, Pulse Sports reports. However, further investigations revealed additional allegations against him, including charges related to domestic violence.

Kerley was initially arrested for assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. While he was set to be released on bail of $12,500, new circumstances led authorities to delay his release.

The additional accusations come from Kerley’s wife, Angelica, who alleges that she was a victim of domestic violence in May. She accuses Kerley of assault, including choking and robbery.

“Seeing the video of this recent incident and how he was aggressive, it kind of made me think like he didn't feel any remorse for what he did to me. I know I have to think about my children, but he didn’t think about his children in that situation,” Angelica stated.

Kerley has yet to comment publicly on the allegations. His lawyers have denied the claims, calling them fabricated.
