Astronomical sums! Manchester United and Chelsea have spent the most money over the past 5 years
A fresh financial report from UEFA has taken many football experts by surprise.
Details: Following UEFA’s release of the financial records for Europe’s top clubs, it became clear that the financial muscle of the English Premier League far exceeds that of any other top league.
As it stands, the biggest spender in modern football is Manchester United, having splashed out a staggering £692 million over the last five years.

Second place goes to London’s Chelsea, who have spent £658 million in the same period.
Arsenal, also from London, claim third place with £589 million spent over the past five seasons.
Additionally, in the 2024/25 season, Chelsea suffered the biggest losses in the history of English football. The “Blues” recorded a pre-tax loss of £342 million—a record for English football.
