Asian Cup: UAE secured victory over Hong Kong
On Sunday, January 14, the Asian Cup continued. In the first match of Group C, the national teams of the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong contested to determine the strongest.
The UAE national team entered the match as the clear favorite. Despite this, an easy victory did not materialize for the more renowned team.
The nominal hosts took the lead in the 34th minute when Sultan Adil converted a penalty. However, at the beginning of the second 45 minutes, the modest Hong Kong managed to equalize through the efforts of Chan Siu Kwan.
Yet, this did not deter the UAE team at all: just a few minutes later, they took the lead for the second time. Zayed Al Zaabi was credited with a precise strike. Towards the end of the match, the nominal hosts scored once more. The success of their team was sealed by Yahya Al-Hassani, who converted a penalty.
The matchday in Group C will continue with a game between Iran and Palestine. The kickoff is at 18:30 Central European Time.
