Asia Cup 2023 kicks off today
Today in Qatar kicks off the 2023 AFC Asian Cup. In the opening match, the tournament hosts will face the national team of Lebanon. The kickoff is scheduled for 17:00 Central European Time.
The tournament will extend until February 10. Matches will be hosted by 8 Qatari stadiums, where the 2022 World Cup took place.
A total of 24 national teams will vie for the trophy, with the Japanese national team being considered the primary favorite, with analysts assigning them a 24.6% chance of victory. Following them are South Korea with 14.3% and Iran with 11.2%.

Based on the results of the group stage, the playoffs will include the top two teams from each group, as well as the four best teams that finish in third place.
The current champion of Asia is the Qatari national team.
