The winner was decided in an evenly matched and intense battle.

Details: Today in London, the first semifinal of the Wimbledon tournament took place between neutral athlete Aryna Sabalenka and American Amanda Anisimova.

The 23-year-old Amanda Anisimova pulled off a surprise victory over world number one Aryna Sabalenka, clinching the match 2-1. Amanda took the opening set 6-4, but in the second, the experienced Sabalenka managed to wrest control and leveled the match by taking the set with the same score.

The third set turned into a thriller: Amanda led 4-2 at one stage, but Sabalenka nearly clawed her way back, narrowing the gap to just one game. However, Anisimova’s grit and determination ultimately overpowered Sabalenka’s experience, allowing the American to seal the set 6-4 and reach her first-ever Wimbledon final.

In the final, the American will face the winner of the Iga Świątek vs. Belinda Bencic clash.

Reminder: Battle of the sexes! Nick Kyrgios has announced a match against Aryna Sabalenka
