A historic showdown could take place as early as this year.
Details: Today, radio station talkSport posted a snippet of an interview with Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios on Instagram, where he revealed he is seriously considering staging a mixed-gender match against Aryna Sabalenka at the end of this year.
"We're looking to set it up later this year, with a slightly smaller court for me and only one serve allowed. Honestly, I'm extremely nervous because she's in peak form right now, but I'm still confident I can beat her," Nick said with a smile.
Similar matches have taken place in tennis history before: in 1973, arguably the most famous "Battle of the Sexes" match unfolded between veteran Bobby Riggs and one of the era's greatest female players, Billie Jean King. Billie Jean emerged victorious, fighting for equal pay for women and men in tennis, and later secured equal rights for women to receive athletic scholarships at universities.
