Arum announced the upcoming fight between Teofimo Lopez and Jamaine Ortiz
The head of the Top Rank promotional company, Bob Arum, confirmed the upcoming fight between WBO World Champion in the super lightweight division Teofimo Lopez and Jamaine Ortiz.
The bout is set to take place on February 8th in Las Vegas and will headline the boxing event. Top Rank is hosting the boxing evening at the Allegiant Stadium, coinciding with the Super Bowl weekend, the NFL's marquee event of the season.
Additionally, as part of the event, lightweight representative Kishon Davis will battle against former two-division champion Jose Pedraza.
In June, Lopez secured a convincing victory over former undisputed champion Josh Taylor by unanimous decision. Following this win, Teofimo initially stated his intention to retire from professional boxing, but later changed his decision.
Ortiz achieved a unanimous decision win against Antonio Moran in September. Then the fight had to take place in a higher weight division (up to 63.5 kg) because the American didn’t meet the required weight.
