Arthur Zwane's AmaZulu misses out on the third spot as Mondli Mbanjwa salvages a point for them against Siwelele FC in a Betway Premiership match
Mondli Mbanjwa salvaged a point for AmaZulu against Siwelele FC towards the end of their Betway Premiership clash this afternoon at Dr Molemela Stadium.
Midfielder Vincent Pule gave the home side the lead on the half hour mark in the first stanza in a tightly contested match in Mangaung.
This draw may have dented Arthur Zwane’s men ambition of finishing on the third spot as they remained on the fourth spot with 39 points.
Usuthu’s third place finish will largely be determined by how current third placed side Kaizer Chiefs perform in their games.
As it is now they are on the same number of points but Amakhosi have played lesser games than their Kwa-Zulu counterparts.
Ahead of the trip from Durban to Bloemfontein, Usuthu coach, Arthur Zwane highlighted the fatigue factor in his team.
And it was evident in this game as Zwane’s troops played well in patches with their performance fluctuating as the game progressed.
But it was Lehlohonolo Seema’s men who were also impressive on the day but were let down by their finishing.
Seema has been vocal about reaching the 30-point mark to ensure PSL survival and after today’s game they are three points away from that reach.
And they are on the 10th spot.
The sharing of spoils did look to be a fair reflection of the game as both teams had chances to seal the game but did not capitalise on them.
