Arteta does not rule out signing a free-agent striker
The lack of squad depth in the striker position and the failure to bring in a new forward have come back to haunt Mikel Arteta, forcing the Arsenal manager to consider drastic measures.
Details: With Kai Havertz suffering an injury after the transfer window had already closed, the Gunners can no longer sign a striker from another club. That leaves only internal options and... free agents. Arteta has not ruled out the latter, stating that he will assess all possible options before making a decision.
However, Arsenal's choices in the free-agent market are limited. According to Transfermarkt, the most valuable striker currently without a club is Wissam Ben Yedder, who recently faced legal issues. Another option is former Arsenal forward Lucas Pérez Martínez, who left Deportivo La Coruña in mid-January.
Reminder: It was previously reported that Arsenal could consider using Ethan Nwaneri as a central forward.
