Arsenal will have to increase their offer for Olympic champion Joan Garcia
Throughout the summer, Arsenal chased Espanyol's goalkeeper Joan Garcia, but they failed to meet the demands set by Espanyol. As a result, the 23-year-old shot-stopper will remain with the Catalan club at least until 2025.
According to Football-Espana, Mikel Arteta still maintains his interest in the Spanish goalkeeper. However, the Gunners will need to pay €35 million to sign the player. Espanyol won’t let him go for any less, even in the next transfer window.
Garcia secured a gold medal with the Spanish national team at the Olympics last summer. The 23-year-old goalkeeper’s contract with Espanyol runs until 2028.
Reports last summer indicated that Arsenal had reached a verbal agreement with Garcia over a contract, but the transfer fell through at the last moment.
