Arsenal hosted Brentford at the Emirates Stadium in the 28th round of the English Premier League. With tomorrow's clash between Manchester City and Liverpool, the Gunners had a great opportunity to claim the top spot in the league.

Mikel Arteta's side started the match strongly and rightfully took the lead. Declan Rice stylishly headed in a delivery from Ben White in the 19th minute.

It seemed like the beginning of another dominant performance. However, contrary to expectations, the Gunners eased off, seemingly aiming to secure victory without expending too much energy.

This approach backfired on Arteta's team. In injury time of the first half, a bizarre and unfortunate moment occurred for the home side. Aaron Ramsdale received a pass from his teammate but was closed down by Yoane Wissa. The Congolese player executed an impressive tackle, redirecting the ball into Arsenal's net.

In the second half, Arsenal pushed to rectify the situation but failed to create many genuinely threatening opportunities against Flekken's goal. One notable chance came from Gabriel's powerful header, which struck a Brentford defender positioned on the goal line. Rice also struck the crossbar with a shot.

Nevertheless, the Gunners showed character and determination to win, for which they were rewarded. In the 86th minute, Kai Havertz burst into Brentford's penalty area and headed in a delivery from White, securing Arsenal's eighth consecutive victory in the championship.

With 64 points, Arsenal topped the Premier League table. Their main rivals, Liverpool and Manchester City, will play their match tomorrow, on March 10th.
