Arsenal has agreed contract terms with promising Italian defender
Arsenal is nearing the signing of Bologna and Italy national team defender Riccardo Calafiori.
According to insider Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners have agreed on personal terms with Calafiori, with the contract set to run until June 2029.
Arsenal and Bologna are discussing the transfer fee for the player, with the Italian club's asking price remaining around €50 million. Calafiori's previous club, Basel, will receive 50% of the player's sale.
The 22-year-old defender returned to Italy from Basel last summer for just €4 million. His current market value is estimated at €30 million. Calafiori is a product of Roma's youth academy.
In June, the tall defender made his debut for the Italy national team, playing three matches for the Azzurri at the Euro 2024 tournament.
It was previously reported that Chelsea is also competing with Arsenal for the player.
