Arsenal traveled to Newcastle for the second leg of their EFL Cup semifinal. The task ahead of the Gunners was difficult — to recover from a 0-2 home defeat in the first leg.

And Mikel Arteta's team failed to deliver in every aspect. The match was a complete disaster for the visitors. The Magpies scored a goal in each half. Arsenal, on the other hand, struggled to create anything in attack, losing Gabriel Martinelli to injury as an additional setback.

Moreover, Arsenal failed to score against Newcastle for the third consecutive match across all competitions. The Gunners lost all of these encounters (0-1, 0-2, 0-2).

Newcastle’s opponent in the EFL Cup final will be determined in tomorrow's match between Liverpool and Tottenham.
