Arsenal enter race with Atletico Madrid for Argentine Manchester City star

Julian Alvarez has repeatedly expressed his desire to leave Manchester City. Consequently, several top European clubs have begun to monitor his situation. Currently, Atletico Madrid is the leading contender to acquire the midfielder's contract.
Despite the Mattress Makers having signed Robin Le Normand from Real Sociedad and Alexander Sørloth from Villarreal, they still have their sights set on Alvarez. According to The Athletic, Atletico Madrid and Manchester City are already in negotiations, and the Spanish club is expected to make an offer of €60 million soon. It remains unclear whether this offer will satisfy the English champions, considering that, according to Transfermarkt, the Argentine's contract is valued at €90 million.
Arsenal might also pose a challenge to Atletico Madrid's pursuit of Alvarez. The Daily Mirror reports that the Gunners are also interested in acquiring the player. However, for the London club to secure the Argentine, they would need to offload some of their current players. This could play to Atletico Madrid's advantage, as they are ready to proceed with the transfer immediately.
It is highly likely that Julian Alvarez will leave Manchester City this summer, although his exact destination remains uncertain. The Argentine is expected to rejoin his team soon after participating in the Olympic Games, at which point negotiations are likely to intensify.
