Arsenal and Man United legend gets first big head coaching job

Former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has been training with the Red Devils recently, and it seems he is ready to work with a big club for the first time in his coaching career.

The Eredivisie side Heerenveen are experiencing problems this season and, according to Dutch publication AD, it is van Persie's appointment as head coach that will solve them.

The 40-year-old moved into coaching relatively recently, in 2020, first as Feyenoord's main striker coach before moving on to manage the club's youth teams from Rotterdam.

Heerenveen are currently 11th in the Dutch league, nine points behind the play-off zone for the Conference League. Last season, the Frisians finished eighth but failed to qualify for the European Cup, losing their semi-final match to Twente 1-2.
