Arsenal and Chelsea want Feyenoord talent! London giants set their sights on the same midfielder
A new transfer battle could be brewing between two London giants.
Details: According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal and Chelsea are closely monitoring Feyenoord's 22-year-old midfielder Gjivai Zechiël. Both Premier League clubs have been impressed by the Dutchman's performances and are keeping a close eye on his development ahead of the January transfer window.
Zechiël returned to Feyenoord after loan spells at Sparta Rotterdam and Utrecht, quickly establishing himself as a regular starter in the Rotterdam side's midfield. His energy, ability to progress the ball and attacking contribution have reportedly caught the attention of scouts from both English clubs.
However, signing the midfielder could prove difficult. During the summer transfer window, French club Lille reportedly made several attempts to secure his signature, with their final offer reaching €17 million, including bonuses. Feyenoord rejected the proposal and are determined not to let the player leave cheaply.
For now, Arsenal and Chelsea are monitoring the situation, and neither club has been reported to have submitted an official offer for the midfielder.
It's worth noting that Zechiël has registered five goals and four assists in his first seven Eredivisie appearances of the 2026/27 season. The Dutch midfielder has also received his first call-up to the Netherlands senior national team.
