As reported by insiders, the board of directors was dissatisfied with both the quality of play and the results of the 2025/26 season, during which Liverpool failed to secure any silverware and finished only fifth in the Premier League, setting a new record for losses in a single campaign.
Additionally, many have pointed out that the atmosphere within the squad has deteriorated, partly due to public disputes, notably with club legend Mohamed Salah.
The leading candidate to replace Slot, according to Romano, is Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola.
Last season, Arne Slot guided Liverpool to the Premier League title, claiming his only trophy with the Reds.
