Kwesi Appiah credits Sudan's qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations to players from sudanese teams Al Hilal and Al Merreikh, amid the huge challenges facing both teams in playing all their qualifying matches away from home due to the ongoing civil conflict.

The former ghana coach stressed the determination of his players, saying: “I had to rely on players from only two clubs, Al Hilal and Al Merreik, and now only Al Hilal is still active”.

He also spoke about the emotional impact of the conflict, with some players having lost family members. "I told them to overcome their suffering and fight to represent sudan with pride", he added.

Sudan hopes in the future to continue this steadfastness and lead Appiah to achieve success at the continental level.
