Antony completed a permanent move to Betis in the summer of 2025, but his career could have taken a very different path — he nearly ended up in the Bundesliga.

Details: In an interview with Globo, Antony revealed that Bayern Munich sought to sign the Brazilian winger. Head coach Vincent Kompany personally called him, but the Brazilian declined as he had already given his word to Betis.

Quote: “Bayern tried to sign me in the final 24 hours of the summer window. Kompany called me himself… we talked, he said he had always been a great admirer of my game… but I had given my word to Betis and I couldn’t betray them. Betis means happiness for me,” Antony said.

This season, the winger has made 11 appearances for Betis across all competitions, scoring six goals and providing two assists.

Reminder: Real Betis head coach Manuel Pellegrini recently proposed an idea that he believes could make football faster and more exciting.
