Antonio Conte hints at return to Italy national team
Napoli head coach Antonio Conte has sparked a wave of speculation about his future after making a cryptic statement regarding a possible role with the national team.
Details: In an interview, the Italian noted that if he were president of the Italian Football Federation, he would definitely consider himself as a candidate to manage the Azzurri. Conte emphasized that he already has experience working with the Nazionale and knows all the internal processes in the squad inside out.
"If I were president of the Italian federation, I would consider myself for the job. I've already been on the national team's bench and I know how it operates," the coach stressed, recalling his successful spell with the Nazionale in the past.
Despite his clear interest in returning to the international stage, Conte urged journalists to consider his current commitments to the club. The coach stated that any decision about his future would be made carefully and only after the current campaign concludes.
"You know my contract situation. I’ll meet with my president at the end of the season and then we’ll see," Antonio added, leaving the door open for any possible scenario in his career.
It’s worth noting that Conte coached the Italy national team from 2014 to 2016, leading the side at Euro 2016 where they reached the Round of 16.
Reminder: It has been revealed whether Bastoni's poor performances for Italy affected his transfer to Barcelona.
