Another major name is walking away from LIV Golf! Spanish legend Sergio Garcia has officially confirmed his departure from the Saudi-backed circuit and announced an ambitious return to European golf, with one particularly important goal already in mind.

Details: On October 29, the 46-year-old announced on Instagram that he will compete on the DP World Tour throughout the 2027 season. Garcia explained that the European circuit had played an enormous role in his career and that he was proud to call it home again. He also confirmed that he is keeping his options open regarding a possible PGA Tour comeback. His LIV Golf contract had already been terminated through bankruptcy proceedings earlier in October.

Garcia joined LIV Golf in 2022 and became one of the breakaway competition's most recognisable stars. The former Masters champion won two individual LIV events but has now decided to pursue a different path. He admitted that he has been working especially hard on his game and mental well-being ahead of the new season.

His biggest ambition is returning to Europe's Ryder Cup team in 2027. Garcia remains the competition's all-time leading points scorer with 28.5 points from ten appearances. He hopes to qualify as a player but has also expressed willingness to support captain Luke Donald in another role if necessary.

It's worth noting that Garcia also wants to compete in major championships, including the Masters, which he won in 2017. He acknowledged his disappointing behaviour at Augusta earlier this year and promised a more positive approach. A PGA Tour return remains possible, although eligibility restrictions could delay that option until August 2027.

Reminder: For the second time in a row, Team Europe defeated the United States and lifted the Ryder Cup in golf.
