In the final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Albania faced England, suffering a 0–2 defeat — and losing their centre-forward in the process.
Details: In the 75th minute, striker Armando Broja picked up an injury and was unable to walk off the pitch under his own power. He was taken off only with the help of medical staff, leaving the field on a stretcher.
However, as Kristi Sejatllari later reported, the injury does not appear to be too serious. Broja has sustained just a sprain to his right ankle.
Albania finished second in their group, collecting 14 points from eight matches and securing a place in the play-off rounds for the World Cup.
Reminder: The English Football Association has put forward an initiative to reform the qualification system for both the World Cup and the European Championship.
