Another important loss for Red Bull. The team's strategic director moves to direct competitors
Will Courtenay has served as the strategic director of the Red Bull team for 14 years. He has now decided to leave and join direct competitors.
Details: According to BBC reports, Courtenay will move to McLaren as the sporting director. The Red Bull team, however, declined to comment on the situation. A source within the team expressed sadness over Courtenay's departure after a long and successful tenure dating back to the Jaguar era.
Courtenay's contract with Red Bull is set to run until mid-2026. However, in such situations, teams typically enter negotiations and reach a compromise.
Courtenay is the third senior executive to leave Red Bull in the past five months. McLaren is undergoing a restructuring that began with Andrea Stella's appointment as team principal in December 2022.
Reminder: Engineer Adrian Newey dedicated 19 years to the Red Bull team. He also decided to leave, and on Tuesday, September 10, it was officially announced that Aston Martin had managed to negotiate and sign a contract with Newey.
