Manchester United are already looking at what could come after Michael Carrick.

Details: According to Manchester United correspondent Samuel Luckhurst, senior figures at the club consider Brighton head coach Fabian Hürzeler the outstanding Premier League candidate to replace Michael Carrick if the Englishman is sacked. However, bringing the German coach to Old Trafford would not be cheap, as Brighton would demand a hefty compensation fee.

Carrick is under increasing pressure following another painful result. Manchester United lost 4-1 away to Como in the Champions League on October 21, extending their winless run in all competitions to seven matches.

Luckhurst reports that Hürzeler is particularly highly regarded among the Premier League options being discussed at Old Trafford. United have also considered other coaches in recent months, while doubts remain within the club over a possible appointment of Antonio Conte.

The compensation issue could prove decisive. Hürzeler is tied to Brighton on a long-term deal, meaning Manchester United would have to reach an agreement with the Seagulls before making any appointment.

It is worth noting that Brighton officially extended Hürzeler's contract in May 2026. The German coach's current agreement runs until June 2029.

Reminder: Carrick's nightmare continues! Manchester United suffer another humiliation and go seven games without a win
