André Frank Zambo Anguissa retires from international football

This marks the end of a long association between the 30-year-old midfielder and the Indomitable Lions.

André Frank Zambo Anguissa announced this Monday his decision to bring his international career to an end. The player, who currently plays for Napoli, will therefore no longer represent Cameroon on the international stage.

This marks the end of an era for one of the Indomitable Lions’ key midfielders, who had, however, been unable to take part in the last Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco due to injury. At the end of his career with the Cameroon national team, André Frank Zambo Anguissa leaves behind a record of 66 caps and five goals scored since making his debut for the Indomitable Lions.

In a statement announcing his retirement, the midfielder expressed his gratitude.

“Playing for the Cameroon national team is every Cameroonian child’s dream. I am very happy and, above all, very grateful to have been able to make it come true. After many years serving the Cameroon national team, I have decided to bring my international career to an end.”
