Andre De Jong praises Oswin Appollis for Orlando Pirates' Betway Premiership title win
Oswin Appollis deserves credit for Orlando Pirates' treble winning season.
The former Polokwane City midfielder was key to the Sea Robbers' winning the mTN8, Carling Cup and the Betway Premiership in which he played 43 matches, scored 12 goals and registering nine assists.
His team-mate Andre De Jong believes he deserve praise for his efforts.
“I think some of the goals he scored were from outside the box this season, I think the big thing about him is his backlift is minimal,” said De Jong on Extra Time on SuperSport.
“I think he can obviously strike a ball from basically a standing start as well.
“But yeah, his contribution to the team has been incredible. I think also in some big moments where he’s almost taken the team upon himself, taken it a bit between his teeth and turned the games for us.”
Appollis is currenly with Bafana Bafana in Mexico for the World Cup, where he is also expected to play a leading role for Hugo Broos' men.
