Amuneke Urges Super Eagles to Fight for World Cup Qualification
Former Nigeria international Emmanuel Amuneke has expressed hope that the Super Eagles can turn their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign around with crucial victories against Rwanda and Zimbabwe this month.
Nigeria’s Struggles in Qualifiers
The three-time African champions have only managed three points from four matches, with three draws and one defeat, leaving them in fifth place in Group C. With qualification hopes hanging in the balance, the team must secure maximum points in their upcoming fixtures.
Amuneke’s Rallying Cry
“I hope we make it to the World Cup. I wish them the very best of luck and I hope in their upcoming games they are able to win,” Amuneke told Modo Victor. “We must be realistic, it’s a very difficult task, but everything is possible in football. I hope they can start winning against Rwanda.”
Super Eagles’ Path to Redemption
Nigeria will travel to Kigali to face Rwanda on March 21 before hosting Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on March 25. The newly appointed head coach, Eric Chelle, will be leading the team for the first time and is expected to make significant changes to revive their qualification hopes.
Group C Standings
