On Wednesday, 11 February, the men’s speed skating final delivered both a new Olympic champion and a record-breaking performance.

Details: American athlete Jordan Stolz clocked 1:06.28, setting a new Olympic record. He also secured gold at the 2026 Olympic Games.

The silver medal went to Dutch skater Jenning de Boo (+0.50), while China’s Zhongyan Ning claimed bronze.

The United States have now collected their fourth gold medal at these Games and 11 in total. Only Italy (12) and Norway (13) have more.

The men’s 1000m speed skating event also proved to be a thrilling spectacle and a triumphant moment for renowned skater Jutta Leerdam, who not only captured gold but also broke the Olympic record.
