The legendary midfielder Santi Cazorla, defying most experts' predictions, has decided to continue his professional career.

Today, Cazorla officially extended his contract with his hometown club, Oviedo, which competes in the Segunda División. The contract runs until the end of the next season.

What is most striking about this story is that Cazorla plays for Oviedo on the minimum possible salary in the Segunda. Additionally, 10% of the proceeds from his jersey sales are donated to the club's academy.

Cazorla, a product of Oviedo's academy, gained the most fame during his stints with Villarreal, Arsenal, and Málaga. He also played 81 matches, scored 15 goals, and provided 11 assists for the Spanish national team.

Last season, Oviedo was vying for a return to La Liga but lost to Espanyol in the Segunda play-off final. Cazorla featured in 24 matches and delivered 4 assists.

It is worth noting that this legendary midfielder will turn 40 on December 13th.
