Today, August 6, the men's climbing competitions at the 2024 Olympics continued.
Athletes competed in the "speed" discipline, where two climbers simultaneously ascend identical walls parallel to each other.
Only the qualification runs and the round of 16, featuring knockout rounds, took place today. In one of the runs, a new world record was set.
In a head-to-head with his fellow countryman Zach Hammer, Texas native Sam Watson climbed to the top in 4.75 seconds. This achievement broke his own previous world record of 4.79 seconds.
It is worth noting that yesterday, a Polish climber twice broke her own world record.
