The sensation of the season! Amateur side stuns Nice to reach French Cup quarterfinals

This week’s French Cup matches have delivered major upsets, with one of the biggest shocks coming as Nice traveled to face fourth-division side Stade Briochin.

Details: Nice controlled the first half convincingly, denying their opponents any real opportunities to threaten their goal. Early in the second half, they took the lead and continued to dominate possession, appearing to have the game under control.

Everything changed in a matter of minutes. In the 88th minute, Hugo Boudon equalized from a corner kick. Nice then pushed forward in search of a winner in regular time, but in the 97th minute, the hosts struck on the counterattack to score a dramatic second goal. Nice had no time left to respond.

As a result, amateur side Stade Briochin knocked out Nice, currently fifth in Ligue 1—a true shock of the season!

Reminder: In another French Cup upset at this stage, Lille squandered a 3-0 lead and lost a penalty shootout to a Ligue 2 side.
