Lille lose penalty shootout to Ligue 2 side after leading 3-0

In the Coupe de France round of 16, Lille hosted Dunkerque in a match filled with drama that ended in a stunning upset.

The hosts finally broke the deadlock in the 85th minute, and it seemed like they were on their way to the quarterfinals. However, Dunkerque found a last-gasp equalizer in the 96th minute, forcing the game into a penalty shootout.

Lille started the shootout strongly, converting their first three attempts, while their opponents missed the first two. At one point, Lille led 3-0 and appeared to be cruising to victory. However, they shockingly collapsed, converting only one of their next four penalties, while Dunkerque scored all of theirs.

As a result, Lille squandered a 3-0 lead in the shootout and were eliminated by a Ligue 2 team in dramatic fashion.
