Amad Diallo sets a Côte d’Ivoire record at the Africa Cup of Nations over the last 15 years
In the second round of the group stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Côte d’Ivoire played out a draw against Cameroon, and one of the Ivorian players set a record.
Details: As reported by Opta, Côte d’Ivoire midfielder and Manchester United player Amad Diallo was involved in nine shots towards the opposition goal. He took five shots himself and created four more chances.
The record lies in the fact that no other Côte d’Ivoire player has posted a better figure in Africa Cup of Nations matches over the past 15 years.
Côte d’Ivoire drew 1–1 with Cameroon and now have four points after two rounds. They sit in second place and will face Gabon in the final group-stage match.
By the way, Algeria have started the Africa Cup of Nations with two wins from their opening two matches, which is only the second such occurrence in the 21st century. The first and only previous instance came in 2019.
