The CBS Sports studio has become famous for its lighthearted banter, often centered around Micah Richards. But on a recent show, it was Jamie Carragher’s turn to be in the spotlight, as host Kate Abdo poked fun at him in the presence of special guest Xabi Alonso, the Bayer Leverkusen head coach and former Liverpool midfielder.
Details: Abdo jokingly questioned Carragher’s honesty when it comes to his relationships with other players, asking Alonso about their connection. The former Liverpool star quickly jumped to his old teammate’s defense, affirming that they still stay in touch.
- "Our experience with Jamie on this show is that there are times he isn’t exactly truthful," Abdo teased.
- "No! Not that much, I can’t believe it!" Alonso shot back with a laugh, as Carragher chuckled in the background.
- “One example is Harry Kane. [Carragher] said he’d been texting with Harry, and then Harry came on the show and said that wasn’t true. He’s also claimed he’s texted you. Is that true? Does he have your number? Are you friends?”
- "Carra? Of course," Alonso replied. "We’ve been texting each other ever since I left Liverpool. He forgave me pretty quickly, so we’ve always stayed in touch."
