During the seventh round of the Champions League clash between Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund, a fiercely contentious incident unfolded midway through the first half.

Details: Borussia Dortmund’s Swedish defender Daniel Svensson went in recklessly on Tottenham winger Wilson Odobert, lunging at him with a straight leg—an action that earned him a straight red card. Initially, the referee missed the severity of the challenge and didn’t brandish any card, but after consulting the VAR replay, he decided to send the Swede off.

At the time of the sending off, Tottenham were leading 1-0, and the London club later doubled their advantage. The goals came courtesy of Cristian Romero and Dominic Solanke.

Reminder: Tottenham are considering Xabi Alonso for the head coach position.
