The Champions League is back, and the first night of the 2026/27 league phase has already delivered a packed programme.
Details: The new UEFA Champions League campaign kicked off on Tuesday, September 8, with six matches taking place across Europe. AEK Athens hosted LASK and Club Brugge faced Aston Villa in the two early kick-offs, before Borussia Dortmund welcomed Villarreal, Porto met Manchester City, Lille played Real Betis and Real Madrid took on Inter later in the evening.
Below are all the results from the first playing day of the 2026/27 Champions League. The scores can be added immediately after the final whistles:

- Club Brugge 2:3 Aston Villa
- Borussia Dortmund 3:2 Villarreal
- Porto 0:2 Manchester City

This was only the opening part of Matchday 1. The first round of the league phase is spread across three days, from September 8 to September 10, with all 36 participants beginning their campaigns. Another six matches are scheduled for Wednesday, followed by the final six fixtures of the opening round on Thursday.
It is worth noting that the 2026/27 league phase consists of 36 clubs, with the opening matchday featuring a total of 18 games across the three playing days.
