Algeria's Olympic committee reacts to transgender boxer scandal

The most talked-about topic at the 2024 Olympics is the controversy surrounding the women's boxing match between Italy's Angela Carini and Algeria's Imane Khelif, who is a transgender athlete.
At the 45-second mark of the bout, Carini refused to continue after receiving a very strong punch. Following the fight, Carini stated that she had never experienced such powerful blows in her life.
This situation has sparked outrage among numerous experts and activists, who are now calling for Khelif's suspension and additional testosterone level testing.
The Algerian Olympic Committee issued a statement in defense of their athlete:
"Algeria's Olympic Committee "strongly condemns unethical targeting and maligning the esteemed athlete, Imane Khelif, with baseless propaganda from certain foreign media outlets."
The COA does not understand why Khelif, who has been competing as an amateur for many years without any issues, is suddenly being asked not to fight because of problems with her gender".
It is worth noting that Khelif, who transitioned, was barred from competing at the last World Boxing Championships due to failing a gender test.
This year's Olympics features another transgender athlete in boxing - Lin Yu Ting from Taiwan.
