The A' national team of Algeria has been formally announced for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025, which will take place in the nation from August 2–30, 2025.
The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) extensively evaluated a number of age group teams before concluding that coach Abdelmadjid Bougherra's A' squad would best represent the nation's chances in the tournament.
The decision came after disputes over whether to deploy players from the U20, U23, or A' teams. Every choice has advantages and disadvantages. The A' team, the most experienced option, was picked to compete for the tournament's championship.
Their participation will avoid the disruption of the domestic league's calendar, a challenge that the U23 or U20 teams might have posed.
The A' team's preparations will begin with a training camp from March 17 to 25, 2025, ahead of both CHAN 2025 and the Arab Cup in December 2025.
Algeria will play Egypt, the Comoros, Gabon, and South Africa in the qualifying matches, while the dates are still pending.
