Algeria is eyeing Eric Chelle for the role of head coach of the Desert Foxes
The Malian tactician possesses qualities that would appeal to the Algerian Football Federation, which is reportedly seeking a successor to Vladimir Petkovic.
Algeria is said to be looking to part ways with Vladimir Petkovic, despite the fact that he recently extended his contract with the Desert Foxes. Although the Swiss manager led the Algerian national team to the round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup, he is reportedly no longer trusted by Algerian football officials and certain players in the national team.
Consequently, his departure is reportedly being considered. To replace Petkovic, the Algerian Football Federation is considering the current manager of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, according to Foot Mercato. The Malian coach is said to possess qualities that have caught the eye of Algerian football officials, the media outlet claims.
A former manager of MC Oran and the Mali national team, Eric Chelle has experience of Algerian and African football. His management style and approach to the game are also said to have impressed the Algerian Football Federation.
