Algeria Crush Liberia to Secure Top Spot in AFCON Qualifiers
In their last Group E encounter of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, the Algerian national football team defeated Liberia 5-1 on Sunday thanks to a strong performance.
"Les Fennecs" won handily thanks to goals from Aïssa Mandi, Riyad Mahrez, Baghdad Bounedjah, Amine Gouiri, and Mohamed Amoura in the 20th, 29th, 64th, 74th, and 89th minutes, respectively.
Sampson Dweh gave Liberia its lone goal in the sixth minute. Algeria finished the qualifiers with five victories and one tie, finishing first in Group E with 16 points.
The squad will now go to Morocco for the AFCON event, which will be held from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
Liberia, on the other hand, ends their campaign in last place with just four points, missing out on the chance to compete in Africa’s premier football tournament.
